*The Sam Chavez award honors a BBBS NNM staff member whose leadership, passion and efforts provide a big impact on the lives of children in Northern New Mexico. Sam Chavez, former Case Worker for BBBS-NNM, was a tremendous influence on many children in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. His gentle sense of humor was coupled with an enduring passion for creating a better life for kids who desperately needed a helping hand. Sam provided plenty of support and encouragement to many of the matches that continue their friendships today. Sam passed away fall of 2006.
