Magical Friendships
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern New Mexico offers children ages 5to 15 the extra chance to grow into healthy, productive adults through one-to-one professionally supported mentoring.
Volunteers serve as Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Big Couples, Big Families, Bigs in Schools and High School Bigs. BBBS is currently campaigning to double the number of youth who are matched with a Big Brother or Sister. There are already over 800 children matched in the Northern New Mexico area.
EMPOWER
EMPOWER is a program for teens and children on sexual abuse prevention.
Support Services and Programs
To effectively support our mission, Big Brothers Big Sisters offers the following additional programs and services to families and volunteers:
Big Brothers Big Sisters of America
Case Management:
Professional Match Support Specialists that provide support for every child, family and volunteer offering advice, problem resolution, outing ideas and service referrals.
Discount List and Free Tickets:
Discounts at area restaurants, movie theaters and family fun sports, along with tickets to local sporting events, plays, and more, give all our youth new opportunities.
Agency Activities and Parties:
Recreational, educational and cultural outings are planned for BBBS matches and waiting list children. Many of these events are free of charge to the volunteers and children.
Scholarship Incentives:
Thanks to the Sally Martin Memorial Scholarship, BBBS of Northern New Mexico offers a scholarship for college or trade school to one Little Brother or Sister each year.
Bigs Support/Social Group:
A chance for volunteers (Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Big Couples, family friends) to get together, share experiences, problem solve, plan events and have a great time.
